Ever  since  he  was  introduced,  Zenitsu,  alongside  Inosuke,  has  been  a  major  support  to  the protagonist  Tanjiro.  When  he  was  first  introduced,  he  came  off  as  a  creepy  and  cowardly  looking guy  whose  whole  existence  screamed  that  he  was  average.  Hell,  his  skills  indeed  look average… that  is  until  he  faints  or  starts  sleeping  mid-battle.  The  moment  his  Nichirin  sword glows  with  a  yellow  hue  and  he  closes  his  eyes,  we  know  that  a  demon  is  going  to  lose  its  head for  sure.  Zenitsu’s  katana  itself  is  a  reflection  of  his  character.

Zenitsu’s  katana  isn’t  completely yellow  like  how  Tanjiro’s  is  completely  black.  Instead,  his  katana  has  lightning  bolt  patterns  in yellow  across  it  which  does  not  catch  any  attention  until  its  user  gets  serious  and  the  sword starts  glowing  in  its  signature  colour,  very  similar  to  its  user  Zenitsu  who  stands  out  the  most when  he  gets  serious  compared  to  his  everyday  self.  During  action,  the  blade  becomes  lightning itself.  It  moves  and  slashes  at  lightning  speed.  Its  destructive  capability  is  equivalent  to  thunder. However,  unlike  a  lightning  strike  that  destroys  everything  around  its  path,  Zenitsu’s  katana  only destroys  what  it  intends  to  destroy.  The  blade  is  destructive  enough  to  destroy  everything  in  its path  in  an  instant  but  also  precise  enough  to  spare  everything  else  around  it.
