Demon Slayer Season 2 Finally Released In Controversy

Set your heart ablaze!

After a long wait, the season 2 of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba finally aired on Sunday 5th December 2021. Episodes are set to air every Sunday and the show is currently underway. It is scheduled to air a total of 26 episodes, an average amount for a Shonen anime. Many fans are already thrilled about how the series is going.

However, media outlets suggest that Demon Slayer Season 2 can be a bit shorter than the previous announcement. Also, the episode 18 can be the last episode of the show, meaning that the second season will end in early 2022. This is certainly now a welcome news for the fans of the show.

There is another issue with the Season 2: Despite the fact that the new season has ignited massive attention from anime lovers around the globe upon its release in December, it seems to have landed in a controversy. The controversy begins with the new character design of Nezuko. Nezuko gains her adult body in the so-called ‘Awakened Demon Form’ but is still wearing her smaller Kimono, which she wore in the previous season, exposing her breasts.

Many fans of the show expressed their displeasure over the portrayal of Nezuko's adult body. Also, many fans felt the portrayal inappropriate as Nezuko is merely 14 or 15 years old in Season 2. Some netizens are even requesting a cancellation of the show, expressing their resentment at both the series and the response from members of the anime community.

One Twitter user named ‘PaxLillin’ said as follows:

“I’ve taught classes of 9-12 year old girls who all LOVE anime and think Demon Slayer is the coolest thing in the world, & if you think designing female characters like this isn’t sending them a weird message please touch grass. Nezuko is 14, and this s*** is legit harmful.”

Some argue that the new character design for Nezuko is nothing more than a sexualization of a teenage character. It can be regarded as a Feminist point of view, but many netizens are making calls to cancel the popular show.

Nontheless, not everyone is agreeing with such view. "It's hilarious to me that people begged for Demon Slayer season 2 only to cancel it over stupid ****," read one of the comments.

Another twit resonates with the aforementioned user.

By the way, tou can watch the Season 2 of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba on Netflix.
