Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind is a 1984 anime film from the acclaimed Hayao Miyazaki and serves as the foundation of Studio Ghibli. While this film is not produced by Ghibli and made before Ghibli is founded, it's widely considered to be a Ghibli work because most of the production staff who made this film are the founders and original members of Studio Ghibli later on.

This film tells the story of Nausicaä, Princess of the Kingdom of The Valley of the Wind from a time after climatic war known as Seven Days of Fire have destroyed modern human civilization and regress the survivor to variation of early 20th century technology, while at the same time facing extinction from the spread of toxic jungle and mutant insects. It deals with topics such as pacifism and environmentalism that will be the signature topics of many Miyazaki film after it.
